Rapid, Intensive Support for Youth and Families in Crisis
When a young person is experiencing a mental health crisis, the right support at the right time can make all the difference. Recovery Options Made Easy provides Home-Based Crisis Intervention (HBCI) to families in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties, offering a short-term, intensive service to help avoid psychiatric hospitalization or residential placement.
Our goal is to help stabilize the crisis, keep the family unit together, and develop the tools needed for long-term success at home, in school, and in the community.
How We Help: A Collaborative Approach
We believe that lasting change happens when everyone works together. Our HBCI program focuses on:
- Supporting the Whole Family: We partner with both the youth and their caretakers to build new skills, try different approaches to communication, and strengthen the household environment.
- A United Team: We coordinate closely with the entire team involved in the youth’s life—including schools, therapists, care managers, and other service providers—to ensure a seamless and consistent plan of care.
- 24-Hour Support: Crisis doesn’t follow a 9-to-5 schedule. Our families have access to a 24-hour on-call line for immediate guidance and support whenever it is needed most.
What to Expect
HBCI is designed to be short-term and highly intensive. Because we are committed to rapid stabilization, the program requires a high level of engagement:
- Immediate Response: Once a referral is accepted, our team will meet with the family within 48 hours.
- Frequent Support: Families must be available to meet at least a few times a week. These sessions take place in the home or community, where the challenges—and the solutions—actually happen.
- Time-Limited Focus: The program typically lasts 4 to 6 weeks, focusing on intensive stabilization before transitioning the family to longer-term community supports.
Make a Referral: No Waitlist
We are committed to timely care. Because our program is intensive and short-term, participants turn over frequently. We do not maintain a waitlist and actively consider all new referrals and re-referrals as they arrive.
We accept referrals from families, schools, hospitals, and community providers for youth between the ages of 5 and 21. To begin the process, please download our referral form below and submit it to our dedicated HBCI team.
